According to news report on 2 May 2012, Health Minister Datok Seri Liow Tiong Lai mentioned in the International Traditional And Complementary Medicine Conference, that the T&CM Act is going to be tabled in the Parliament in June this year. Datuk seri Liow said this  during the opening of the World Federation of Acupuncture Society International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Convention at Pullman Hotel in Kuching Sarawak on 1 May 2012. Teng sincerely hope that there won`t be any delay this time around. The long awaited Act (sometimes called Bill) has been prepared by MOH for many years.  Ever since the booming of T&CM field in Malaysia in recent years, the practice environment of T&CM has somehow become unhealthy and the real professionals have been affected.  The biggest hope to rectify this issue lies on the Act. The Act may not be perfect but let`s hope for a good start. 

卫生部正在探讨強制全部医生参与“持续提升专业”（Continue Professional Development,CPD）计划，才能夠更新 “执业执照，APC” 的可行性。政府医院自2008年开始強制政府医院的医生参加“持续提昇专业”，私人界医生未受约束。政府有意将类似措施推广到药剂师等等医疗专业。 医药界不断有最新的研究进展，为了保持较高的专业水平，医生有必要长期密切跟进医学领域的发展。目前，西医方面有许多医学继续教育的管道，例如临床方式、专业性质的讲座、网上方式、专业期刊等等，医生可以按照专业需要进行有针对性的进修或者培训。 其实，大马这次所谓的探讨已经相对落后，应该加快落实。在美国，州政府強制医生必须在每年达到最低的“继续医学教育”（Continuing Medical Education, CME）学分才准许更新行医执照。邻国新加坡已经实施类似措施多年，大约3年前更扩展到药剂师专业，该国的整体医疗水平取得区域性成就绝非偶然。 多年前某外国著名医科大学的调查显示，大马大部份医生由于过度忙碌以至缺乏时间参与医学继续教育活动。笔者亲自所見，的确有小撮医生明显跟不上某些最新的专业医疗资讯，甚至仍然沿用落后的诊疗方法，信心难免大打折扣。 适当的压力是推动力，卫生部探讨強制全国医生参与“持续提升专业”计划的可行性是非常合時宜的，唯具体实施方面需要一套周详的方案。 本文刊登在： 《星洲日报。言路》，日期：2009年4月7日
